Aspiring Leaders (SCQF Level 6)

The Aspiring Leaders course is a Professional Development Award (PDA) which is an introduction to leadership and management for those who aspire to a leadership role.

What will you learn?

Unit 1: Leadership and Motivation

Unit 2: Develop and Sustain Productive Working Relationships with Colleagues

On successful completion of the course, you will gain an SCQF Level 6 qualification which is jointly certified by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Learners registered on the PDA are eligible for 12 months of free studying membership of the CMI.

On successful achievement of the PDA, learners can apply for membership of the CMI which means that they can become part of the professional community of managers

How is it delivered?

Aspiring Leaders is delivered over 6 face-to-face sessions and will be assessed via self-directed work and assessments delivered within the face-to-face sessions. In addition, support sessions will be available throughout the course.

All our sessions involve a mix of content, discussion and interactive activities to cater to different learning styles. Participants will have the opportunity to hear thought-provoking leadership insights from a variety of experienced guest speakers throughout the course. This allows participants a safe space to explore how the theory can play out in practice in a multitude of settings.

Day 1 - Leadership styles

Day 2 - Leadership skills

Day 3 - Motivation

Day 4 - Creating a culture

Day 5 - Dealing with difficult situations

Day 6 - Peer review

Where is the course held and when can I take part?

We deliver our open courses from our training venues located in Edinburgh, Fife, or Falkirk .
